In the sun-scorched reaches of the Compassion Desert, stands the Temple of Eternal Repose once dedicated to the deceased noble men and women.

Where nobles were embalmed in gold-threaded wrappings and sealed in sarcophagi beneath sacred glyphs. The temple was a place of mourning, reverence, and peace.

Now, travelers who strayed too close spoke of cold hisses and narrow gleaming eyes watching from the entrance.

A clan of ophidians took the temple as their own, defiling the tombs and using the burial chambers for twisted rituals in service of their ancient serpent gods.

They used their corrupted magic to twist the nobles corpses into their own army of undead.

At the heart of this heresy ruled Queen Shahmaran, a monstrous Yuan-ti—half woman, half serpent, and wholly cruel.

The queen’s dark magic fueled ritual sacrifices—mostly kidnapped villagers and desert nomads. With each life taken, Shahmaran’s power grew.

A call for brave souls to delve into the desecrated tomb, to stop Shahmaran before her dark reign slithers forth from the sands.
The Shattered Hearts of Amun

To honor their beloved in death, these lords and ladies placed sacred gems called the “hearts of Amun” in their tombs. Forged by ancient priests through rituals long forgotten, the Hearts of Amun were believed to guide the spirits of the dead safely into the afterlife, shielding them from corruption and despair.
Mend a Broken Heart

If one was to repair a Heart of Amun, the soul of the person who was bound to the gem will grant you a boon.
